Tri-County Horse Club
2008 Rules and Regulations
This is a family oriented club. It is open to anyone interested in showing horses and earning points towards year-end awards. This is a fun show circuit and proper attire is not required.
The registration fee is $15.00 per person and $30.00 for a family each year (show season). A person may register any time during the year and will accumulate points from the time the registration fee is received. There is no minimum number of shows to qualify for year-end awards. (Remember the more you show the more points you earn.)
All Tri-County show fees and registration fees will go toward year end awards after Tri-County Horse Club expenses have been paid.
Tri-County Horse Club will point 50 classes as per our 2007 pointed class list. Each class will be pointed as follows:
1st Place ---- 7 Points
2nd Place ---- 5 Points
3rd Place ---- 4 Points
4th Place ---- 3 Points
5th Place ---- 2 Points
6th Place --- 1 Point
For a class that is split due to a large number of riders, only one set of 6 ribbons will be awarded.
The RIDER receives the points. Not the horse.
The sponsoring organization must include all Tri-County pointed classes in their show and may include as many other classes as desired. The added classes will be listed as A.B.C. in between any numbered classes.
The starting time of a show is recommended to be 9:30 AM (rain date – Sun 9:30 AM).
Any ribbons, trophies, awards given at a pointed show are the responsibility of the sponsoring organization. Awards MUST be given through six places.
Martingales are permitted in Saddle Seat Classes ONLY.
The decision of the judge is FINAL. All judges will be hired by the sponsoring organization with an attempt not to hire any one judge more than once in a Tri-County season.
NO one under 18 years of age will be permitted to show stallions.
You may only show one horse in any one class for points. If showing more than one horse in a class (i.e. barrels, poles, etc.), you MUST notify the show secretary PRIOR to the class, which horse you are showing for points or NO points will be earned by you in that class.
Profanity, disorderly conduct or unsportsmanlike conduct will be grounds for disqualification.
At the end of the season, there will be awards given in each of the 50 classes. There will be a high point and reserve high point award given in each of 6 divisions (Hunt Seat, Saddle Seat, Western, Leadline/Starter Rider, Adult, Games) to the persons receiving the most points in all classes in that division. Also a High Point & Reserve High Point Overall award will be given.
NEGATIVE COGGINS WILL be required and the facility holding the horse show will check to see that each horse on the premises has required negative coggins papers.
The board of directors includes members from each sponsoring club. Any decisions made by the board of directors will be final.
Class entry fees are $6.00. $2.00 of this fee will go towards Tri-County year end awards.
Age of a youth is figured as of January 1st. If you are 12 years old as of January 1st you may show as a 12 year old the entire year, even if you turn 13 on January 2nd.
Tri-County Horse Club will not sponsor more than 10 Horse Shows in any one year.
Green Rider is a rider that is showing for the 1st or 2nd year of any showing under saddle other than leadline. It is not for anyone that has shown for more than two years at Tri-County or any other circuit. Changing seats, i.e. Western to Hunt Seat, does not reinstate green rider status. Western Horses that are six years old or older will be ridden with one hand and in a proper western style bit in accordance with AQHA/ApHC rules.
Pony classes are limited to horses measuring 58" and under.
All classes are open to all breeds of horses and are to be judged according to their breed’s standards. Gaited horses are allowed and encouraged.
All "No canter" entrants may NOT cross enter into a class that requires a canter or lope other than Poles, Barrels, and Trail providing they do not canter/lope.
Academy Class horses are used for lessons by a schooling barn on a regular basis.
Leaders for Leadline must be 16 years of age or older.
Starter Rider classes are for the new rider just beginning to ride under saddle but not yet ready to enter the ring alone. The rider must be accompanied by an attendant 16 years of age or older. Starter Riders may not show in any other under saddle class except Leadline.
Trail Class and Showmanship(13 and Under) must be designated by the rider either Hunt Seat, Saddle Seat or Western, when they join, if they want the points to accrue to their totals in a particular discipline.
Riders in Hunt Seat or Saddle Seat Walk/Trot Equitation may not show in Hunt Seat / Saddle Seat Equitation Open. Riders in Western Horsemanship Walk/Jog may not show in Western Horsemanship Open. During each equitation/horsemanship class, riders will be called into the ring one at a time to execute their pattern and will exit the ring immediately after completing their pattern. Multiple riders will be allowed to enter these classes with the same horse.
